Fillers - Yachting

Based on high technology and innovation
Jotun Yachting fillers can be applied in very high film thicknesses and have excellent sanding properties. Their main functions are to:

  • Level out and smooth the hull surface
  • Provide adhesion and cohesion between the surface and the paint system
  • Enable sanding with minimum loss of thickness and volume
We recommend two-pack epoxy fillers as they have better water and solvent resistance than polyurethane fillers. They are also much harder and more flexible. For underwater areas only epoxy fillers can be used.

We offer three types of epoxy fillers and one gelcoat repair kit with polyester filler. The main difference is the type of finish they provide, their degree of hardness and waterproof properties.

Lightweight Filler

Two-pack, ultra light weight, low density epoxy filler for high film thickness: Up to 30 mm on big areas with minor effect on the total weight of the boat. Very easy to sand, but more porous and leaves a more uneven surface. Must therefore be recoated with Finishing Filler after sanding and prior application of the epoxy primer.

Finishing Filler

Two-pack epoxy filler for finishing jobs. Can be applied up to 3 mm film thickness, leaving a very smooth surface without pores or holidays. Easy to sand and provides a very smooth and uniform surface. Low absorption of water or humidity, but must be sealed with an epoxy paint. Suitable to prevent and repair damages of osmosis.

Epoxy Repair

Two-pack, high density epoxy filler for small damages and cracks in the finish. Can be applied up to 20 mm film thickness and suitable for repairing holes, pores and holidays. Easy to sand and provides a smooth surface. Must be recoated with an epoxy paint.

Gelcoat Filler

Two-pack, fast drying polyester filler for small damages and scratches. Coloured paste very easy to apply and sand, providing a smooth and bright surface. Can be applied directly on weathered gelcoat once it is clean and sanded.
